Powerboat Training Courses 2012
Power Boat Courses.
The club has the aim of having as many members as possible who undertake the Safety boat driver duty to possess the RYA level 2 Powerboat certificate. To this end we are running RYA Power Boat courses of 2012. Again it's free for all members. Dates start on 14th January and 15th January 2012. Please contact training@weston.org.uk ASAP if you are interested in attending.

There will be no charge for these training courses.
The primary purpose of the training courses is to improve members’ skills and knowledge, although WSC is authorised to award RYA certificates for levels I, II and Safety Boat to those members who achieve the relevant standards:-
Level I:
- Competent at launching and recovering a boat from a trailer, basic
boat handling and the use of safety equipment.
Level II:
- Proficient at the skills covered in Level 1 with additional boat-handling skills and background knowledge and a reasonable understanding of the methods for righting a variety of dinghies.
Safety Boat:
- Proficient at the skills covered in Level 2 and mark laying, race management and with a detailed knowledge of rescue techniques.

Please would you also indicate whether you already hold any RYA powerboating certificates or have relevant experience.
Sail Training Courses 2012
WSC will be providing a series of four sail training courses during 2012. Training course dates will be confirmed soon. Provisional dates are:
- 6/7/8 June 2012
- 9/10/11 July 2012
- 15/16/17 August 2012
- 20/21/22 August 2012

For any non-member friends or family who wish to join the courses additional cost
per person. This cost
covers one month’s temporary membership of WSC.
(temporary members
may only participate in one course - they will need to join WSC as full
members if they wish to participate in further courses).
Our courses are run entirely by volunteers.
The training courses are to improve members’ skills and knowledge. RYA certificates for levels I, II and III (Racing) may be received by participants who achieve the relevant standards.
Dinghy's used by WSC include Fevas, Picos, Toppers, Laser and Enterprise but participants are also encouraged to use their own boats (at their own risk).
WSC cannot reserve places until payment is received. Applications will not be processed before 1 May 2012.
