WSC will be providing a series of two-day powerboat training courses for club members in early 2008. The proposed dates for the courses are 5/6 January 2008 and 12/13 January 2008. There will be no charge for these training courses.
The primary purpose of the training courses is to improve members’ skills and knowledge, although WSC is authorised to award RYA certificates for levels I, II and Safety Boat to those members who achieve the relevant standards.

WSC would emphasis, however, that it is a members’ club and, although the club is an RYA recognised teaching establishment and its instructors and RYA qualified, all the club’s training courses are run on a voluntary basis. The emphasis in WSC training courses is therefore on enjoying sailing and learning new (or improving existing) skills. Although WSC is authorised to issue RYA certificates, this is not the primary purpose of the club’s training courses and there is no guarantee that participants in the courses will be awarded a particular certificate at the end of a course.
Weston Sailing Club is keen to introduce non-sailors to the sport of sailing and to encourage sailors of all abilities to improve their skills. WSC will be providing a series of three-day sail training courses during the spring and summer of 2008.
In 2008 these training courses will be held on:
- Saturday 5 to Monday 7 APRIL 2008
- Tuesday 27 May to Thursday 29 MAY 2008
- Friday 4 July to Sunday 6 JULY 2008
- Wednesday 27 August to Friday 29 AUGUST 2008.
The cost of the courses will be £15 per person for each course. For any non-member friends or family
who may wish to join the courses, one month’s temporary membership of WSC costs an additional £35
per person.
If you wish to attend one of these training courses then please complete the PDF FORM and send it to the
WSC Training Administrator at the above address. Please ensure that a cheque, made payable to “Weston
Sailing Club”, in the appropriate amount is enclosed with your application form as WSC cannot reserve
places until payment is received. Applications will not be processed before 1 March 2008.
