Race Officer Training
For those wanting to know more about race management, the RYA - Club Race Management Course is an online , interactive, e-learning course designed to help give those new to race managment the confidence to set courses and to start and finish races. Or simply work through the course as a refresher. Weston SC has developed Guidance Notes for Race Officers that is tailored for the waters we sail in.
If you are interested in taking the first steps into managing races we recommended you work through this course and then volunteer as Assistant Race Officer (ARO). Ultimately, many of the decisions the e-course highllights will be made by the Race Officer (RO) but they will welcome the opportunity of discussing them with an ARO who understands the situation
If you are interested in a hands on course at the Club please email sail@weston.org.uk or message Sailing/Events in Contact Us
Powerboat Training
The club aims to have as many members as possible who undertake the Powerboat Driver duty to hold a RYA Powerboat Level II certificate or equivalent. The club generally runs WSC specific Powerboat training in March or April each year.
Sail Training
Sail Training courses are arranged if there is sufficient demand from members and the primary purpose of the training course is to improve members' skills and knowledge.
WSC is not authorised to award RYA certificates and participants must be at least 8 years old at the start of the training.
The training courses will usually make use of WSC's Fevas, Picos, Toppers, Lasers and Visions. Participants are also encouraged to use their own boats but these must be fully insured.
If you wish to attend one of these training courses then please email the link below to register your interest.
