Rock up and Race / Wing Boarding
Published 00:05 on 6 May 2026
An exciting weekend coming up.
On Saturday 9th May 2026, Weston will host a dual event.
Weston will run a series of short races based on an initiative by the RYA. After a briefing in the clubhouse, members, family and friends who can sail can join in with this activity. The course itself will be a short windward, leeward course between the clubs committee boat and a racing mark. Club boats will be available, free of charge for those who do not have a boat of their own. Club boats will be rigged prior to the event starting to save time and we encourage members to come and join in this event. Please note that the club boats will be on a first come first served basis. There is no need to book for this event.
If you are bringing a relative or friend to join in with this event, please make sure that you sign them in. The book will be held in the club, on the bar.
The club has hired additional buoyancy aids for those who do not own one. Unfortunately, without a buoyancy aid, you will not be able to go afloat. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear if you intend to take part in any activity.
Also on Saturday we are looking forward to having Starboard join us for the afternoon. Below is a little about the company. Come along and see what exciting kit is out there for us to use and have a taster session at this amazing sport.
This event starts from 1pm onwards.
Starboard are very well established in the watersports industry, bringing innovation from the mid-'90s that revolutionised many areas of windsurfing, with multiple World Championship winning shapes in both racing and waves. Founder Svein Rasmussen's vision quickly identified the potential of Stand Up Paddling in the sport's very early days and expanded his operation to accommodate growth in the new sport, leading to many world titles and test-winning products. The same dedication to innovation and quality has been applied in recent times to their wingfoil programme, with highly-refined and tested designs that deliver some of the easiest-handling products available, plus high-performance wings, foils and boards covering the most radical freestyle and wave performance.
With a huge range of wingfoil products on the market, it can be daunting choosing equipment to best suit your requirements, particularly for newcomers. A well-stocked demo day backed-up with expert advice presents a golden opportunity to evaluate products from Starboard's exciting updated range of wings, boards and foils covering from beginner through to pro level.
